Mindful Meditation for Aids

UCLA study shows that mindful meditation is affecting the immune system response with AIDS in a very favorable way. This would seem to be a direction to pursue in finding out how to make the body do the self healing that it is already capable of. If mindful meditation can have this immediate and measurable effect on the immune system and it’s affect on AIDS, then hypnosis may possibly have an even more profound effect. There is a man who claims to have cured himself of AIDS with hypnosis, NLP and nutrition. He has proof and it is a result of using what the body and brain already has.

No side effects. But since the big pharma can’t patent it and charge money it won’t get the attention it should. I mean really, this is from UCLA!! And the only mention I found in a press release was from the HINDU TIMES! It took a lot of searching to find the UCLA source. Why wouldn’t our news report something so significant?

Great articles that show how we are advancing the knowledge of hypnosis. This one is about hypnosis and dementia.

Hypnosis Shown To Reduce Symptoms Of Dementia

ScienceDaily (July 29, 2008) — A scientist at the University of Liverpool has found that hypnosis can slow down the impacts of dementia and improve quality of life for those living with the condition.

Forensic psychologist, Dr Simon Duff, investigated the effects of hypnosis on people living with dementia and compared the treatment to mainstream health-care methods. He also looked at how hypnosis compared to a type of group therapy in which participants were encouraged to discuss news and current affairs.

They found that people living with dementia who had received hypnosis therapy showed an improvement in concentration, memory and socialization compared to the other two treatment groups. Relaxation, motivation and daily living activities also improved with the use of hypnosis.

Dr Duff said: “Over a nine month period of weekly sessions, it became clear that the participants attending the discussion group remained the same throughout. The group who received ‘treatment as usual’ showed a small decline over the assessment period, yet those having regular hypnosis sessions showed real improvement across all of the areas that we looked at.

“Participants who are aware of the onset of dementia may become depressed and anxious at their gradual loss of cognitive ability and so hypnosis – which is a tool for relaxation – can really help the mind concentrate on positive activity like socialisation.”

Further research will now take place to establish whether hypnosis maintains its effects on dementia as the illness progresses, over longer periods of time.

Dr Dan Nightingale, co-author of the research and leading dementia consultant at the Abacus Clinic in Newark, added: “Evidence to date has shown that we can enhance the quality of life for people living with dementia through the correct use of hypnosis. We have now developed a course for clinicians who wish to incorporate hypnosis into health care plans.”

Ghrelin...

This is the hormone that controls hunger and fullness. Research shows that the more protein you eat, the more the ghrelin is suppressed, meaning you feel full.

The level of ghrelin stays high when fat is consumed. (bad thing)
Carbs lower it temporarily, but then send it soaring shortly after. (more bad things)
Ghrelin is produced in your stomach. Protein makes it subside so it doesn't reach your brain and you feel full.
Good thing.

Now, if you have been paying attention to my previous ramblings, you might remember the one thing that interferes with ghrelin production and makes you feel hungry all the time.
What is it? It is quite possibly the one most important factor in our fight with obesity.
High Fructose Corn Syrup. Not just fructose, but the High Fructose.

The delayed decrease of the hormone ghrelin has been shown in obese subjects but not in normal weight subjects. This means that chronic consuption of fructose may actually be preconditioning the metabolism of a normal weight individual to behave like an obese individual's metabolism. What does it all mean?

If you read your labels, you will notice that high fructose corn syrup is in almost everything these days. If it is true that it affects the ghrelin and leptin hormones and prevents us from feeling full, it could be responsible for overeating.

In addition to doing your hypno best to create great eating habits and to love your veggies, you should be diligent about staying away from HFCS.

What does this have to do with hypnosis? One of the immediate effects of hypnosis is stopping constant hunger. The brain can very easily feel full or hungry based on my techniques in hypnosis. I just got an email from a man who lost over 100 pounds using his hypnosis CDs. When you focus your brain on specific strategies to change the release of the hormones, the perception of hunger changes. AND the exciting part is that you love to eat veggies. And if you are eating veggies instead of twinkies, things might just work out.

Memory erasing drugs

The new way to get rid of those annoying memories, is to make a drug, test it on some unsuspecting brains, and see what can be wiped out. Now, I don’t know about you, but I am not signing up for this study. What if I forget how to drive, because the memory was associated with a car accident? The idea is that you would think about the memory to activate that part of your brain, then the drug would target it to eliminate it. Sort of.

There are better ways to tackle difficult memories. The emotions are triggered by many things,

and the sequence of events that causes a memory to trigger the emotions and physical feelings buried in that place in your brain, will happen before you have chance to stop them consciously.

EFT is a great way to release and change the emotional content. EMDR is also useful. Hypnotherapy can release the negative emotions and create a new set of emotional responses when that memory is activated. In the video today you will be part of my experiment to find out how much you can change the emotional response to a memory.
